East Coast Ferries
It is a lovely drive from Saint John to go to Campobello via the ferries! Don't miss it, and tour the Roosevelt Campobello International Park (and FDR Summer Residence) while you are there! The Union Club
I have been a member of the Union Club since I was in my early 20's, that's 25 years now!! It hardly seems possible! Guests of Chipman Hill Suites can enjoy lunch in the relaxing atmosphere of the Club without being a member. Simply call for a reservation and show your room key upon arrival. Lunch may be paid by Visa, Mastercard or cash. In addition to lunch, meeting rooms and special functions may also be booked by guests of Chipman Hill Suites. Please speak to the manager, Mae Spavold to book a function. It is a nice quiet gracious place to have a meeting or presentation. I highly recommend that you try the Club!
The Inns on Great George
Inns on Great George: My husband and I have stayed at the Inns a number of times. The Inns are a collection of historic buildings in downtown Charlottetown, restored with beautiful furnishings and appointments. A bountiful breakfast is included and the Inns are within walking distance of all that is happening in Charlottetown. If you are going to PEI, don't miss the Inns on Great George! The Wentworth
The Wentworth is one of my very favourite places to stay. My husband and I really enjoy a two or three night getaway there, and in fact, were just there in March of this year!! Jackson, New Hampshire, in the White Mountains, is off the beaten track from North Conway, which tends to be very busy and crowded. (It is full of factory outlets.) North Conway to Jackson can be likened to Saint John to Rothesay. Jackson is a village with a number of historic inns, less traffic, and quiet places to sit and think, especially on the big front porch of the historic Wentworth. Dinner and breakfast in their marvellous diningroom is included in most packages. The food is outstanding. Relax at the Wentworth and venture over to North Conway and shop your brains out!! Call Ellie and tell her I sent you!!
Sam Hughes Inn
I have been following Susan Banner's project, the Sam Hughes Inn in Tucson, Arizona, ever since I first read about it in a trade magazine. We have corresponded back and forth for ages, and I hope to see her place someday. In the meantime, if YOU get there first, please let me know how wonderful it is, OK?"
